Start-air Units for Emergency Diesel Generators

Start-air units for emergendy diesel generators in various executions and sizes:

  • compressed air vessels from 180 to 4,000 dm³
  • safety armatures (valve head) with type test approval mark
  • start-air units with armatures, piping and sensor system
  • start-air units with integrated compressor

Design according to Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC, to KTA 1401 regulations (Nuclear Safety Standards Commission) andto specific customer requirements as per national regulations, such as:

  • Strength and integrity
  • Rated seismic properties
  • Intrinsic Safety
  • Testing-compatible construction
  • Environmental conditions 

The start-up safety of the emergency generators especially coincides with the purity of the starting air. Highly corrosive materials occur at locations with high humidity, particulate matter emission and sulfur dioxide pollution.

The selection of materials used by STF permanently guarantees the necessary purity of the starting air. All aeriferous components are made from austenitic and corrosion resistant materials.

STF Valve Heads, standard and modular

for NPP applications (metallic sealing), type tested armature different nominal diameters / operating pressures

Valve body:
Material: austenitic according to AD 2000 leaflet W2
Minimum tensile strength of 440 N/mm2,  tested for intercrystalline (intergranular) corrosion, ultrasonic testing (UT), liquid-dye penetrant testing (PT), surface pickled, passivated, hand-wheels finished RAL 3000

Valve spindles:
Material: austenitic, specially hardened against "jamming"

Valve seats:
Pure metallic sealing (no synthetic materials, NPP version)

Angle valves:
Metallic sealing, austenitic materials according to AD 2000 leaflet W2, W11

Safety valve:
Body DN10/PN400, austenitic materials according to AD 2000 leaflet W2, tested according AD 2000 leaflet A2, 11, acceptance test certificates 3.1 according to EN 10204

Sealing to the compressed air vessel:
Sealing pack with special gasket made of austenitic material
silver-coated and centering ring

Approval:
100% individual examination as per type test approval and DIN 3230 Part 5,
acceptance test certificates 3.1 according to DIN EN 10204

Cleaning Systems for Gas Turbines

The mixing vessel is controlled, filled with fresh water and detergent as well as antifreeze is added. Heating cartridges heat the wash before it is sprayed into the turbine by a feed pump and a nozzle unit.

Thereafter it is rinsed with clear water In addition to the anti-freeze, the system and the spray piping are kept frost-free by the heating cartridges and a pipe trace heating.

The soiled wash-water is contained in a reservoir and pumped down by a level-controlled effluent pump.

The system consists of:

  • Feed reservoir for cleaner
  • Feed reservoir for antifreeze
  • Mixing vessel
  • Feed pump
  • Heaters
  • Sensor system for differential pressure, temperature, level
  • Piping with manual and pneumatic valves
  • Electric-pneumatic control

Materials:
Because of solutions containing solvents and brines, product affected components are manufactured from austenitic materials.

Suction Components for Combustion Engines

Application:

Materials:
Due to aggressive ambient influences and the required particular air purity, primarily corrosion resistant austenitic materials (1.4571/1.4404) are used.

Materials:
Due to the aggressive combustion gases and the strongly acidic condensates, STF uses corrosion resistant austenitic materials (1.4404/1.4435)

Expansion Tank

for cooling or hydraulic liquids, if applicable with internal support plates or baffle plates.
